SUGAPA INTAN JAYA – One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Friday, 1 October 2024, the 509 Task Forces Patrol Team from the Holomama Post, led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, implemented the results of Social Communication with Community Leaders of Yalai Village, Sugapa District, to organize a community work service cleaning up the Yalai environment.
Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, emphasized the importance of the Task Force's attention to the community's basic needs around their Posts. Therefore, since Monday (28/10), the Soldiers conducted Social Communication with the Community Leaders of Yalai Village about the environmental cleaning work plan. After the discussion, it was agreed that the cleaning time would be on Friday (1/11) morning, and the cleaning sector would be cleaning the roads, gutters, and areas around the residents' housing.
The joint community work, which was the first time involving the community and the Soldiers on duty in Papua, was a testament to the active participation of the Yalai residents. The roads, gutters, and areas around the Yalai residents' housing were all cleaned with the combined efforts of the Soldiers and the residents. After the activity, Mr. Roni Japugau, Community Leader of Yalai Village, said, "Thank you, Commander 509. Yalai Village is clearer now. God bless".
Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to collaborate with the community to clean the Yalai Village area. His words: 'The 509 Task Forces' initiative is a shining example of TNI inclusive social communication with all parties to support accelerating development in the Papua region.' This acknowledgment from the highest authority in HABEMA underscores the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development, instilling a sense of progress and hope about their potential to shape the region's future positively.
